13 Jul The Toxic Positivity Mansplainer
I’ll just sit this down right here:
Bold of this guy to assume that I’m incapable of doing my own research. Also bold of him to instruct me not to watch any news. To be clear: I’m not a proponent of watching 24/7 news. I think it’s important to take sanity breaks and not overwhelm yourself. The nature of what I do = it’s important for me to keep a finger on the pulse of the markets. As a SME, I have to be able to inform both clients and candidates of what is going on in real-time. That’s reality for me. Call me crazy, but I find it valuable to know things like how The Fed wants to cool off the job market and see hiring freezes. How wacky of me! I guess I don’t need “all that agenda based crap” in my life according to Mr. Sunshine. 😒
As I’ve said before, I feel like this is an auspicious time to be smart about who you’re listening to. Are you being taken in by social media panderers or pushers of toxic positivity? IMHO, this might not be the best time for all that.
If your gut instinct is telling you that you should be paying some extra attention to the world around you RN, I believe that is a valid response. Not all anxiety is baseless; sometimes our antennae perk up for a reason.
